Night is also an ideal time to meet “Morningside” the most feared area of authority inhabited by the rackety creatures, Amphibians. Unheard of elsewhere in the island, the amphibian fauna of Morningside knurled cloud forest with open Patana type meadows is conquered by shrub frogs of the genus Psudophlautus which are terrestrial direct developers and many of which are habitat specialists, often requiring the shade of a canopy covered forest for survival. Description of 111 valid amphibian species have been recorded from Sri Lanka up to 2012, comprising 95 endemic species and 03 endemic genera known as AdenomusLankanectes and Nannophrys

When the distribution of Pseudophilautus in the Eastern Sinharaja is distinct evolutionary lineages representative of the major clades of Pseudophilautus in Sri Lanka. Out of all recorded amphibian species belong to the genus Pseudophilautus, nine species have been discovered from the Morningside region in the past decades. Of which eight are only found in the destination, have not had recorded even in the Western part of Sinharaja tropical rain forest.

To date, Sri Lanka has already lost 21 species of amphibians. This is about half the confirmed extinctions in the world. Same as the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) recognizes these novel species recorded in the Eastern part of Sinharaja as being conceivably extinct.
